YOUTH! ARISE AND SHINE:WHAT IT TELLS THE YOUTH

"Arise and shine" has been the slogan of many youth. Majority of us do not understand what it means and therefore, do not works towards what it calls for. Arise and Shine has a meaning which reminds the youth of the tasks to perform in their youthful age.

Arise from the dictionary means, "to get up", "to start to exist", "to resume existing" among others. How do you understand the word "arise"? If someone is asked to get up, what does that mean? It means the person is either in a lying or sitting position, or the person is expected to move to a higher level. Therefore, Arise calls for one to be exceptional among others. That's, it calls for one to be outstanding. When you Arise, you become recognised.

Someone may ask, why should we arise as a youth? We must arise as a youth because God has a lot for us only if we arise (come out of darkness or the world). Arising is about coming out of darkness. It is about saying NO to some attitudes. It is about leaving the desires of the flesh. Some other reasons to arise are;

     - Arise for possessions ( Genesis 13:17)

     - Arise to build ( Nehemiah 2:17-20)

     - Arise for leadership ( Joshua 1:2)

     - Arise to rescue ( Deuteronomy 9:12 )

     - Arise for restoration ( Genesis 31:13 & Luke 15:18 )

     After you have arose, is there anything else to accomplish? Yes! You must SHINE. To shine  means to reflect light. After you have seen the light, you have to reflect the light. You need to shine within your colleagues. You need to walk as children of light as said in Ephesians 5:8,"For at one time, you were darkness but now you are the light in the Lord: walk as children of light." In Matthew 5:14-16, the Bible says, "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on the candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."
